I have tried three types of oil in the box, and the best in terms of synchro. performance is Castrol "Syntrax" 75/90 I experienced crunching from 4th to 5th at high revs when using a fully synthetic oil, but Syntrax cured this.
Subaru don`t recommend mixing g/box oils, so I would suggest an oil change - easy to do!
