Default STI 5 Type R - Weak points?

Looking to return to scooby ownership after 18 months away and i'm fancying a V5 Type R (always wished i'd opted for one before).

Not looking to spend anymore than £8k.

A few questions:

Will I get a decent one within my budget?
Is high mileage a no-no?
What are the weak points with them?

Cheers,

Matt

Edited to say, I've tried the search option but couldn't find anything specifically.

Yes and No depends on it's History, find one owned by an Enthusiast (you''ll see him by the cars history) buy with your brains and not your *****

Possibly "new" owners not used to Subaru's play a part,
Using cheap std fuel, high revs from cold, new toy syndrome doughnuts etc over reving abuse, not used to short shifters (from 4th to 5th and getting 3rd) just ragged to death in 3/4 months and sold on.
Although this is not always the case with those that let go in 1-3 weeks of ownership. Censensous seems to say a proportion of them are.

The V5 has a few weak points

1) piston slap
2) Cranks
3) Maf sensor, more prone with induction kits = rough running or Possibly run lean and melt expensive things

IMHO IIRC

Hope this helps

Tony
