Presumming it's the same as my 53 Reg Blobeye then it's do-able without removing the headlight just quite a fiddle.
IIRC one side is much harder to do than the other? think the passenger side was harder due to the battery.
I de-tango'd my lights and didn't realise the particular silvertec bulbs I had that flash orange wouldn't fit so bought the correct and fitted them a week later (ok 3 months later
) and didn't remove the headlights.
