Any Pump On Your Car?
This question might be me talking nonsense but i'll ask it anyhow:
Can any sort of Pump weather it being Powersteering or Oil etc make a knocking noise if there failing or knackered in other words, last week steering became heavy turning right that was before the knocking started could it be a loose pulley knocking onto something else?
Cheers

Oops, sorry
I reckon steering pump fluid is right low. I had this on my old Clio 16V - really sticking steering and a horrible clonking noise.
First thing, check the level and top up as necessary. Then turn on the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock for about 3-5 times. Recheck the level hasn't dropped - if so, top up again. If it is that, you should notice an immediate improvement when you next drive it.
Thing is though, unless it hasn't been serviced for ages, then there would be a reason for the level to have got way low in the first place - and that is normally a failed steering rack or the pump iteslf (it was the rack that had gone on my Clio)...

Big ends more than likely, was just trying to see if it could be something else i'm clutching at straws really.
No knocking when steering - steering wheel just feels heavy its worse on roundabouts coz the steering wheel is held in the same position for longer, could would wheel balancing effect it the steering wheel doesn't line up correctly when driving straight?
Knocking noise %100 sure is coming from the engine.

dont sound too good, does it get faster when revs rise?
i recently had my engine knock when revs hit around 3k rpm only got 20mins of driving before it done it constantly and blew up on me. i aint split my block yet to see what failed but guy from my work thinks a piston might of snapped its rings.
either way its fit for the bin lol

Yes, only do it just the once for diagnosis purposes. If it is a big end you may get away with new shells and a reground crank... Although with flat-4s it'd be easier to transplant over a full recon bottom end i.e. including the two block halves (I think?)
