Interior light & braking
Can anyone help please?
Out of the blue, my 2001 Bugeye JDM has developed a fault where the interior light comes on when I brake. The dash light also shows that there is a door open.
This happens whether I'm stationary or moving. I have checked all of the doors and they're closed. It's happened suddenly as I haven't been working on the car.
Its obviously an electrical fault but does anyone have any idea where to start looking?

ok why the interior light comes on when you brake i dont know strange one that,as for the dash light showing theres a door open i would say that,that was a door pin switch they also turn the light on inside the car.check cables going to these switches,hang on does the light come on,on the dash when you brake????
I have checked the door switches. Like i said it also does it when the car is not moving. Could it be by any chance that i might have a brake light blown or some thing.
Do both brake lights illuminate with the same intensity or is one dimmer than the other?
Sounds like you have voltage leaking to the chassis somewhere giving power to the door switches despite the doors being closed.
I'd be looking at the brake light circuit for faults/shorts to earth, but you'll need a volt meter ideally.
Find the looms going to the rear lights an move them about a bit, it may move the faulty cable (if there is one). Worth a try and free.
