Default 4 door roll cage ??

Has anyone fitted a cage to a car and still managed to keep the function of the back seats or is it a case of a functional roll cage drops you down to a 2 seater?

It depends what your doing. If it's for show, then just get the front section of a bolt in cage, but if you want it for any thing serious then get a proper cage, and yes you will lose the use of the back seats.

What cage are you looking at? and for what purpose? There's a thread, I think under technical or projects which talks about Cages and merits of putting them in a car for road use only. Have a look at that.

The Safety Devices 1/2 cage can either be used with the diagonal (so no space for passengers) or without, although I think its a "duck" to get in. Its quite simple to swap over.

There are a number of other cages that sometimes come in imports that allow unfettered access to the rear seats.

I used to have a 6 point bolt in jobbie for my wagon that I only ever put in for track days and took out afterwards. That had a cross-brace between the rear turrets and a diagonal, so was pretty robust. Took about 45 mins to put in/take out - easy once you worked out what trim needed to be moved and the holes were drilled.

(All the above for the classic not bug or hawk)
