Now don't laugh - I'm a self-confessed Mac-man, but I do have a PC.

And it's not exactly good

Athlon 2400XP on an Asus AN7x-x
1 Gig PC5300 DDr
160Gig of IDE(!) drives
**** DVD rom
ATI 9700 Pro graphics card
Running XP Pro

Up until this last week or so, I have to admit, the PC has been used as a door -wedge for the studio
However, in a moment of clarity (and organising of studio), I've reconnected it with my old G4 as a "relaxation tool" in the corner - it's sole purpose to play a few games.

Now before hand, it would quite happily play Half-life 2, CSS, Richard burns Rally. Chuffed.

I've noticed that the graphics card's fan stopped working (after it restarting half way through a game of CSS) - I did put another fan in but I think it's too late.
My guess is that the card is now fubar'd coz it resets/restarts the PC as soon as the graphics get interesting on any game, but it will run and display Windows.

To make matters worse, I bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R for £6 (Morrisons!), and it won't run.
Now I'm not prepared to go down the whole route of buying/upgrading the computer (not for a £6 game anyway!)

I've been either looking for a replacement 9700Pro, or a 9800Pro (or equivalent)

Any suggestions, as I've been out of the PC world for about 8 years (how old this PC is)

Anybody got one lying around or recommendations for an equivalent card?

Actually sounds more like the PSU - if the gfx really was knackered I'd expect the screen to be blank, and if it was overheating I'd expect you to see various artifacts. What PSU is it?


But I have an old 9700 I don't use you could have for nothing, but only if you can arrange collection from Cambridgeshire, as it's not worth the cost of packing it for posting.

Give it a good clean out n reseat the ram, if its been sitting at floor level, its probably caked in dust n overheating, same for the PSU fan.
