Default MY07 2.5 WRX 5spd Gearbox

Dear all,

Does anyone happen to know if the '07 5spd 2.5 WRX gearbox is any different (read as 'any stronger') than the earlier 2.0 WRX gearbox.

PPP 2.5 runs in excess of 310 lbft, and if this is a warrantied setup then maybe, just maybe subaru saw fit to make it stronger. Alternatively they just cut corners and fitted the same old 2.0 gearbox.

What do you guys think?

And yes my 07 wagon runs more torque than this and yes I'm worried re longevity, sound familiar?

Regards

AFAIK it's no stronger than the 04/05 WRX box, however, the 04 onwards boxes (TY754VN4AA/TY754VN6AA) are use stronger/wider gears than previous 5 speeders and will cope with higher torque and shock loadings.

Cheers Andrew,
Thanks for the info, particularly the favourable response. Am still going to take it easy though, standing starts can't do any gearbox any favours, and I just don't drive like that.
I fitted an STi turbo (VF43) and a bigger intercooler last week, dyno ran at 336bhp and 342lbft, so I know I'm pushing it.......
Hopefully the clutch will expire before the gearset!!

Thanks again for your reply,

Gareth
