Bust the needle shaft on my MY93 WRX. Does anyone have one lying about their garage before I trail off round the scrap yards?

I tried to take the fuel gauge off the panel on my legacy cause it wasn't working and broke the needle off in the process . Discovered afterwards that you CANNOT remove the fuel gauge without breaking the needle .
Ended up putting a new panel in ( £60 ) and a new tank unit but gauge still didn't work . Problem traced to wiring fault .
Don't know if impreza is the same .

lego,
I had a mate who knows scoobys inside out look at it and he still couldn't sort it properly . Ended up connecting one of the wires from the tank sender unit to earth which got the gauge working again but it only reads halfway down i.e. when it gets to the 1/2 full mark the tank is nearly empty . The light still works . The mechanic said that we probably bypassed some faulty electronic device which changes the voltage so that the gauge reads properly .
Good luck .
Derek
