The code is on the id plate on the passenger side suspension turret and also on a sticker just near the starter motor.

 

If you fit the wrong gearbox the ratios might be all to **** for your car and worse still you may end up with a different diff ratio, front to rear.
This is not recommended and selling a car in that condition will result in one very pissed off new owner, something you might want to think about.
