hey guys,

seems after the new leads and coil have gone in the engine wont fire, its got air, fuel and spark but not firing?

Anyone got any ideas as to why it won't start?

My guess would be something is not connected right. Make sure everything is pushed in right. failing that try the old coil to see if it solves the problem

Was it not starting before the coil and leads were fitted?

You definatly have the leads the right way round?

assuming it ran before you changed coil and leads i would say the leads are on wrong.

thanks for replies guys..... in response to the above, the car did run 'ish' after the new simtek went in, but still didn't run 100% and was narrowed down to coil being melted, which had caused a HT lead to melt a bit and was arc'ing!

These two items have been replaced, and now its not firing at all.

As far as I know my mechanic took each lead off individually and replaced them this way, and checked everything twice, so I can't see the leads being the wrong way round?
Is it correct the central coil lay out represents the head lay out, i.e top left on the coil is the for the top left cylinder?

My dad reckons it could be too much fuel going in and not enough air, suggested that the FPR be turned down or to be sure disconnect the fuel pump and turn it over, but I don't know...!

Pretty straight forward.

Coil pack has an ID Sticker that sticker should face the front side of the engine when fitted use this as your guide.

And then each port on the Coil pack goes to the cylinder its closet to. I.e. Front right = front right and so on.

If you connect this up wrong then yes it won’t fire correct and will quickly wet the plugs allowing no spark.

Best bet is to check as above, clean the plugs and try again. If that does not work you have another Issue.

right tried all of the above and still won't start, might have a further look into it tomorrow.
