Default starting for 5 sec's then cuts out could anyone HELP!!

Hi there all am new to scoobynet class site !

i have a problem with my terzo uk it starts up fine runs for bout 5 seconds then cuts out the pump it working (primming) it .and i think its working when running too. has any body has clue wat might be wrong with it aslo get erro code 53 anyhelp would be gratefull .

hi ther i have try'd every thing thats poss could it be any thing to do with me taking the battery out to charge it over nite

Maybe your key has become damaged? and the chip inside is not being recognised by the car?

I saw somewhere how to reprogram them shouldn't be too hard to find if you do a search.

thanks every body for the quick replys .. the car is doing my head in just wont go i'll try looking up bout the key thing do not have to take it to a dealer to getb this done

sounds like the key has becomed un programmed to ecu etc..

do you have the spare?

have you change the ecu at all?

hi all this problem started when i took batt out to charge it .its realy doing my head in LOL!! i have not touched the ecu if it was the key thats the problem would the car not run at all or would it still start then cut of am realy stuck on this one

the 97/98 immobiliser in the key allows the engine to run for about 4seconds..

look on the dash and see if the key led goes out..

it shouldn't have got muddled with just a battery change though

Have you tried the maf sensor, mine was doing this exact thing last week. Error code 53 was showing when the maf was damaged but then changed it and reset the ecu and it dissapeared. Try disconnecting the maf and see if it will run....

well guy's gave up on the car thought is needed some one that knows wat there doing so sent the car to scottish subaru's in paisely these guys are good at wat they do .

the problem with the car was the key after all so there working on it now and getting another few thing done while its there so my terzo should not be long untill its back with me .
