Default Best thing to do, rebuild or 2.5 upgrade.

Hi, I got a sti type r version 6 which had a big end shell spin and lock up the engine, it was running great, no nasty noises or rattles it had 56k and was standard apart from the exhaust then this happened, I'm well gutted.

My next problem is do I get the motor rebuilt or do I get a EJ25 2.5L short block and run that instead or run a EJ25 2.5L short block and fit my sti v6 heads?

The current engine is a close block red top engine which I don't know if it is a better motor than a EJ25 2.5 . Which route is the best, which route is the most economical to the pocket?

Would a 2.5 be a noticable difference to drive and would it be difficult to set up.

If I go down the rebuild route who would you recommend to do the work ( I live in Oxfordshire )

Thanks for and advice given.

Buy a 2.5 short engine and some forged pistons , fit the version 6 heads and get a SimTek supplied and mapped for it...
The extra grunt from the bigger engine will blow you away if you have never tried one..
Feel free to contact for pricing .....
