Getting the right turbo
I have a 98 uk impreza, but recently bought one of the sti shortblocks on the groupbuy on here. I have ported and polished the heads and fitted an uprated clutch, oil cooler etc. Also have fmic, sportscat, uprated fuel pump, full 3" exhaust system etc.
I put it all back together with the stock td04 turbo using the avcr am currently just below the fuel cut threshold (i think is 14.5psi?)
The car is reasonably quick but i want more. I am aware i will need a remap and i will be going for a Simtek ecu after i have decided on the turbo.
I want something that will spool relatively quickly but am not bothered by the boost dropping off after 5500 - 6k - I do want a turbo that will get me close to 400bhp though.
I have read alot about the td05 20g and the md series. Was just wondering what you guys think. Thanks for looking.
