Why not email Darren Dawes or just buy a few sizes from a hardware store if such a thing exists these days? It has to be big enough to push neatly against the spring but not too big that it can't move freely.
if you talk to jamie also

cheers, i'm guessing that its just the ball that i'm missing and nothing else.
i've got some lying about the garage, is the ball slightly wider than the spring so it can't go inside it, i'm presuming its brass not plastic (would it make a difference?)

Dont worry...
First it is not plastic!!
If you look inside you will see its "Seating" as long as the ballbearing fits and does not wobble about inside from side to side it will be ok.
Should be easy

your right it could be, not the case though, got caught out by the twist in the hose and it unscrewed itself too far and the internal parts fell out - very embarassing
Any way got a couple of bearings from a local bearing supplier (7mm did the job), and best of all i didn't have to pay for it as it was under a fiver
All works now, and i'm happy again

Not a happy person, i seem to of somehow 'misplaced', shall we say, the parts inside my dawes while adjusting it.
I've got the spring, but i'm missing the ball bearing , does anyone know what size it is (bigger or smaller than the spring in diameter) and is there anything else missing?
don't really want to have to buy another one
edited to make more sense

How exactly did it "flew to bits and disappeared off the face of the planet" ?

I take it that it was not put back together properly ?
Your post above could be misinterpreted that the Dawes MBC is poorly made.....
I've had no problems with mine and it is VERY well put together.....
Thanks
Gavin
