Question

If using octane booster is better than not, does it therefore follow that using two bottles/measures per tank is better again?

Currently running Optimax and Millers, and just wonder if I would get better performance/figures by doubling up the quantity of booster?

Anyone know if this will work, or just explode the engine!

Matt

No point running double if you run NF.

Takes SUL 97 to 102.8 RON using 5mls per Litre of Fuel.

This is research Tested.

Millers generally gives a 1-2 RON increase - This is from Millers them selves, not slagging there product off, just making people aware.

John - no cat free system.

Dingy - does that mean that using NF in double doses wouldn't increase its effect?

I know what you say about the difference between Millers and NF, but Millers is so much easier to use than NF and easier to get hold of!

If you ran more than 5mls it would increase, but you can increase this too much.

I use a whole bottle on track as its getting hammer, but there is probably no need to.

We are currently looking for retailer's of NF at the moment so it should become more and more available over the next 6 months.

SCC in st ablans are stockists.
ScoobyScene are stockists.

We are, and can ship mail order.

Its more difficult year, but you fill a vial and put it in the tank, its not exactly hard.

I'll maybe try some Dingy. By increasing octane as well as reducing knock and allowing more advance does it keep the in-cylinder temperatures cooler? Can you use it with NUL as well as SUL?

Another option (twice as expensive as Millers octane plus though) is to add 2 bottles of Millers CVL (applies ony to decatted cars)
This also boosts octane to around 102. I'd only do it for track days though.

The temps are cooler, much cooler, from both the water and oil side.

2 bottles of millers £6 compared to about £3 of NF, this is double the cost, plus track days aren't cheap either.

Can be run will all fuels, the increase is slightly different.

NUL - 100+
SUL - 102+
Otimax - 103+

I say plus beacuse the fuel you buy may not be has high as it should. SUL is garenteed 96.4 and optimax is 93, both from 97 and 98.8 advertised.

Its CAT freindly and contains a valve seat additive.

John just got the email.

I will be sorting out web sites for NF and NAM over the next few days.

Its £13 a bottle and getting to Scotland isn't an issue.

Do discount for 10 bottles

Dingy,

I'd be interested when you get the available in shot sizes. Any chance you'd post something on here or e-mail me?

Adding 2 bottles versus one does not significantly raise the octane. I had a chemist explain this to me but I only understood 1/2 the words that came out of his mouth. As I understand only a certain concentration is effective as a knock inhibitor.

They should be available in OZ in March, so i would say late march time we would get them in.

As far as the more you put in the more octane, yesh but its not as straight forward.

1mls in NUL gives a greater increase than on sul and then again on optimax. So the higher the RON the fuel is the less of on increase.

97 - 102.8
98 - 103.2 if you see what i mean.

Its worth putting in all scoob's as it makes a difference.

From NF website it seems you need 5ml/L to get the sort of figures you get with two bottles of CVL (ie 102+)? Does that mean £13/tank not £3?

John, yep, it is only for when you are feeling wealthy I normally use it so a bottle lasts 3 tanks, found that to be a good mix for my MY00. I've never run more than half a bottle to a tank, although I have used a whole can of Silkolene before (no way I'm paying the better part of £15 extra per tank on a regular basis)
