How many other people out there have had there mass air flow meter contaminated by the oil from there Ramair filter. I dont think a £300 bill is funny!

Apparantly you can clean them yourself (somehow). I think I'm gonna have to and am about to do a search on the topic....if there is one.

Hmmm...I have one of those, too. Dunno if it's behaving or not...

How does the problem manifest itself?

Regards,
Squizz.

Yikes!

Ok, next chance I get, I'll examine the inside of my air-box. (Ooerr).

Blue sticky stuff in your air-box - Not nice!

And replace the element with...?? Suggestions? (Cheap!)

The filter was in for a long time about a year and 50000 miles.
The symptoms are hunting at idle so much so that it stalls at times

My local dealer recommended and fitted a RamAir panel filter at my last service (15k miles on an MY00), charging me 40 quid plus for the privilege.

Are you saying that is is no longer an approved product?

If so, I feel an argument coming on.

Nick.

As Sunil says, they no longer supply them to MY99/00 cars. They use to be standard on the PPP, on the MY96/97/98 IIRC!

Just spoken to my dealer, and they will check with Subaru and Prodrive about this.

They've had three phonecalls this morning - the servicing manager asked me, "had I seen it on the Internet" ?

Will edit when I know more. They're going to phone me back later.
