I have had A few reliability problems with my 1994 WRX Import recently , and have been toying with a change to something more reliable.

Any views on E30 M3 last model there in my price range and being Bavarian suspect their solid and quick. But are they as quick ?

Anyone own one and changed from a SCOOB ?

Lumby,

Nip out and buy the Classic & Sportscar for Feb, it's got the E30 M3 on the cover. Good article inside and the prices range from £2850 to the one on the cover @ £20,000+. Quite fancy one myself - there's another article inside about a 320iS that used the M3 4 pot engine - sized to 2 litre as a tax break for the Italian market - might be a better car for everyday use.

Kevin.

E36 then (rectangular headlights).

Never drove the M3 version, only tried the 323i.

The E36's, as I recall were a good bit heavier than the E30's.

Certainly the 323i I drove wouldn't compare that well with the Impreza for zipping around B roads, but the M3 though would (I guess) be significantly better.

Cool

Lumby,
Sounds like you mean the E36 M3, I have the mag Kevin is talking about and there are no E36 in there. You need to get Performance Bmw or similar.
IMHO the E30 is a superb car, Handles great and is very predictable ok not as much raw power as a scoob but I prefer the way it handles on track.

E36 m3 not a patch on the earlier E30. Goes faster but handles like a bag of nails by comparison. Stick with your scoob or get a new E46 which is one of the best cars i've driven in a long time.
