Hi, Can anyone help,

My scooby is shook, it was working 100% then suddenly lost power on turbo, loads of white smoke coming out the exaust and once turbo kicks in it fires oil out the dipstick..

I'm not sure weather it's a broken piston or a blown turbo or neither...how do i diagnose if it's the turbo...i'm fearing it's as a piston even though the engine sounds fine....

any ideas or experience I would be most gratefull for.....

 

does sound like piston, best bet get it to a specialist

 

I'm in Ireland, specialists are few and far between, spoke to 2 guys, one thinks it's the turbo the other is a main dealer who wants 4000 for a new block....how do I rule out the turbo, can I disconnect it and try driving it?

 

hi try removing the actuator of the waste gate arm so the waste gate is permenantly open and then drive it put your foot down and if there i no smoke or oil its likely to be the turbo. sometimes if the seals have gone the charged air will preasurize the sump through the oil return.
