Hi All

Ok posted this a while back, the car was making a barking sound anywhere above 3500rpm with only 6000 miles on the clock, 7000miles later its still there.

When the car gets going (on turbo) and I dip the clutch to change up, the car barks (sounds like front right hande side near me). It seems to bark when the drivetrain is dissengaged. It doesn't 'bark' when i re-engage the clutch

Any ideas?

(and no I don't own a dog, and I haven't got one hidden under the bonnet )

hi M, could it be the standard BOV, Ive heard if they're defective
they can make a mooing noise... i know its not a bark but it may be a starting point...they're both animals!!!!

Sounds like the BOV to me too.... altohugh I am just assuming as this would be when it is trying to dump etc...

You need someone who has upgraded and has a standard BOV sat there that you can borrow to test it.. sorry I cannot help on that one though.

Seriously though, its the clutch hydraulic pipes vibrating against the bulkhead. Guaranteed They run down bulkhead on the side you describe.

Common problem, easily fixed by any competent dealer.

LOL....my supplying dealer diagnosed a noisy clutch release bearing which was replaced under warranty. Made no difference

Dealer I went to therafter fixed it in two minutes.

So don't go worrying about dump valves just yet.... Faults there sound like blowing over the top of a bottle.

Mine does this as well sometimes. I remeber the sound but can not
remeber when it happens

I though it was a "Characteristic of the Car Sir" and though nothing of it again.

Mine have done over 40k though

If it's the BOV then it'd make the same noise when you shut the throttle at high revs under full boost.

Mine makes a kind of 'graunching' noise similar to what you describe so I got in the habit of easing off the throttle before dipping the clutch. Doesn't seem like it comes from that side of the car though.

It could almost be a graunching sound (bark) was the only word I could think of at the time. No matter where in the rev range (above 3500) it does it, even when driven smoothly, although not as loud

My money is with Diablo on this. Open the bonnet and look in the area you think the noise is coming from. You will see 4 or so brake/clutch pipes against the bulkhead which run parallel for a short length. They are connected together by a plastic clip. Stuff a piece of cardboard box down the back and the noise will most likely go away.

 

had it on mine.
dealer fixed it with some foam padding behind the 4 thin pipes mentioned previous.

good as gold now...

I have an annoying tapping tip noise as if something is rolling around in the boot. Only its empty.

Happens as the clutch bits on first gear pull away and sounds like it is behind my head on the drivers side. Only happens with normal pull aways, dump the clutch at high speed and nothing.

 

Glad to hear that it ain't only me with cabin rattles/squeaks. So far I've located:

- Ceiling/roof rattle, coming from just in front of the centre light (sounds like what JGM mentioned), push up on the roof and it stops
- Occasional rattle from the gear surround where it meets the carpet, seems to have gone for the moment
- Passenger side speak rattles especially on bassy toonz, not bothered as I'll soon be sticking some sony's in there and making an MDF surround panel

I have the same problem never thought as it sounding like a barking dog until i drove home tonight. Dealer said to me when test drove it would just be the sping that needed oiling
