Default CAN I REMOVE MY BOOST RESTRICTOR

hey people, can i remove my boost restrictor to try sort out my overboost/underboost and are these something fitted as standard or and aftermarket thing????

They are fitted as standard. Removing it will make it run around 6/7psi.

Without the restrictor then the BCS can never flow enough air to incraes boost over wastegate setting, so it will sort your overboost I guess, but not how you want it to, its not a 'boost restrictor' as such!

Just out of curiosity are you running a de-catted newage STi without a re-map ?

rather than a bodge job, just get it mapped correctly

no its a uk 99, and will a remap sort the boosting out correctly?????

If you are running a standard car then there is something going wrong ...I'm just trying to think who your nearest scooby specialist could be ?

Yes the BCS control functions and open loop target are remappable to sort you over/under boosting,
