Default Fuel for a JDM Import

Hey guys,

What is the best fuel to use in a jap import scoob?

I heard that unleaded would damage the car therefore the more
premium fuels should be used

Cheers

Thier standard unleaded is 97ron i think. I tend to use ~V power and octane boost for now, untill i get it re-mapped.

I use V-Power in mine which has also been mapped for it.

Some advice i was given, it might be right or might be wrong, but but seemed logical to me

Depends on what year JDM, if pre or post V5(1999)

Pre V5
1)Use only V power and if booting it add Octane booster

2) Super unleaded, If you have to drive it temporary on it, keep it on low boost never at constant Revs for long periods.

3) Never run on normal unleaded

Post V5

1) SUL on normal driving use SUL and octane booster or just V Power. Using V power only add Octane on hard driving/trackdays.

2) Normal unleaded, If you have to drive it temporary on it, be carefully but it should retard and as long as you off boost or long periods at constant Revs, no harm sould be done.

3) Post V5 after remapped use SUL or V Power

IIRC

Fill it with a tank of v power, reset the ecu and let it learn the new fuel, the difference it made when i did mine today was awesome! My car used to hit fuel cut in very cold conditions, now its fine and it feels a bit more responsive lowewr down, then when i hit boost she flies!

afaik, japan had 98 ron fuel in the early nineties, and moved to 100 ron about 97/98!
