Default pre facelift Resonator box

Is there a noticeable benefit from removing the res box on a scoob ? Im guessing as it is designed to reduce intake noise it also restricts flow ? Can you get a pipe to go direct from the intake manifold to the air box and turn the two 90 degree bends in to two much longer flowing 45 degree bends again to aid flow ?? I have done some searching and can only really see this mentioned for post 96 cars, that res box seems to be in the wing, where as the pre 97 cars have it right next to the air box. Im not fussed about the noise, but allowing better flow and throttle responce would be nice. Will this affect the MAF reading ? Any guides or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Fantastic, that really is a good read. Ill try to find a res replacement pipe from somewhere, and ill also take the arch linner off and have a look at the pipe and set about fabricating a new feed pipe, strange the guys left the two 90 degree bends in, but one can be removed by using the v3 onwards top half of the air box.

Im so sad, im actually excited about jacking my car up and looking under the bonnet tomorrow

Thanks again, if anyone knows where I can get a res box replacement pipe that would be great.
