Default Exhaust for a non-turbo

Hi all

I have a 1997 Impreza rx (non-turbo)

Im after getting a better sound from the exhaust and perhaps a little more power. Now Im no expert and the internet is just confusing after 3 days of searching for information. Also living in norway isnt easy.

Anyway some say I cant have a full 3" system de-cat system as I will loose power. Others say I should have a 2.5" system and then after the first cat it can be increased to the 3" system.

So any suggestions from the experts here? I may have a catback xs power 3-3.5" system available too me, but as I said, I would like to get the most power that I can. I have no objections to removing the cats from the system.

And before someone says, buy a turbo, I cant afford it just now. Even my little old 1997 rx is selling for £12000 over here just now!

Thanks in advance everyone!

John
