Default prodrive intercooler piping for classic 99

hi all,

Why did prodrive fit a modded intercooler pipe to the 99 classic cars? I've fitted the exhaust and ecu and the car feels great, but is it worth fitting the blue pipe aswell?

Cheers, Jon.l

I believe the standard piping wasn't just a non silcone piece. It was a plastic Y pipe with ridges in it. The Prodrive pipe has an alloy Y peice, with silicone joiners. I think people get the same affect from having a completley silicone Y pipe rather than just the join to the turbo.

doesn't it improve airflow from the turbo into the intercooler?

yeah I've just fitted it and removed the old (standard) one which looked very restrictive and narrow. I can't believe the increase in performance the PPP has given, the car now pulls hard in all gears and sounds great!

Autospeed website carried some flow testing which showed how badly the stock plastic pipework floed (halved the flow over the intercooler aloan), no test of the STi setup as used on that age WR sport kit.

You can get the Samco version; they also sell it as a kit.
1 x Y pipe from turbo to intercooler
1 x blow off pipe
1 x intercooler to throttle body

The plastic pipes had a tendency to split also.
