Default Gearbox for my Turbo 2000

Right pay day is looming and I need to get on and sort teh Scooby out for Summer.

The two big jobs... Engine and gearbox rebuild are first.

I managed to shear (possibly) my 5th gear. It still selects theres just no drive. I assume the gear is sheared but really havn't got a clue.

What is the best option? Source a second hand gearbox and replace the whole thing? Upgrade to a STI box/diff to handle future engine upgrades or get the original box rebuilt?

92 > 98 SUBARU IMPREZA TURBO 2000 TY752***** GEARBOX on eBay, also, Subaru, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 29-Jan-08 23:42:43 GMT)

I've seen this on ebay. Would this fit ok? My car is 1999 and I know they changed the engiens about a bit but what about gearboxes.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Its would fit but there are a couple of holes you would need to drill and tap into the block to mate up all of the bolt points.

Get a TY754 as its a straight swap, thats 1999 or 2000 boxes only.

It may be better to get yours repaired rather than shell out on a second hand bo when you are not 100% on its condition.

Try Api or Zen Performace for a rough qoute on repair.

Oh, think of how much power you want in future as well. the TY754 is good up to about 350bhp and 300 lb/ft but past that you are running on the edge. Consider a 6 speed conversion for anything close to 400bhp.

Also think about the gearing, the type R gearing is great for acceleration but high revs on motorway cruising speed which some dont get on with. Speak with the guys mentioned above for advise on how you want to proceed.

I have a UK 6 speed for sale along with propshaft and gear linkage.

It will bolt straight onto your car.

I'm selling as I've just bought a two door shell complete with DCCD box and diff.

PM me if intererested.
