what is the procedure when fitting new turbo

I.E do you need special oil when you first start it up like you use lube when fitting camshafts.

urgent help needed please.

vf23 turbo.

 

I don't know about special oil, I would have thought not, but the best way to make sure that the turbo is full of oil, is to crank the engine over for a while with the ignition somehow disabled, at least until the oil pressure light goes of, longer would be good though.

take great care for the oil outlet from the turbo - its the black wide rubber pipe at the rear of the turbo its an absolute **** to fit

 

Me and my friend still have nightmares from replacing a turbo in my 200SX. I wouldn't even dream of changing the spark plugs on my scooby now, let alone a turbo....

 

I agree on the oil return hose (bottom black short one) - an absolute PITA to reinstall.

Sparkplugs are easy to change - with the right tool.

A regular plug thingamawrench (I'm foreign...couldn't find the word), the 2 inch extension is the thing that does it...

I removed the airbox, and the water bottle (had to move the fuel filter as well), left the battery in place....and got me knuckles bloody.

It was a 30 min job IIRC.

New turbo on and working well,just need it setting up now.

 

Hehe give me a few months and I'll probably be stripping the engine down. I'm just too scared of breaking anything as it seems too pretty to be scrapped.
