Does anyone know how to get fault codes from a 99' legacy without a diagnostic kit. Are there terminals under the dash as in older models? Has anyone used the software and leads from ebay using their laptop??

Ive got recurring vdc and check engine lights coming on. Subaru main dealers have cleared the codes and say that they're historic but they keep coming back and I'm not paying them 50 quid a time.
