Having a problem with engaging 5th at highish revs. It's been happening for a while now and seems to be getting worse.
Basically, when engaging 5th at over 80ish the gear graunches in. I used to be able to avoid it by being careful and taking a slow change, but now the higher the speed, the worse the sound and more difficult to avoid although still does not happen below 70ish.
It may have started happening at the 30k service when the oil was changed about a year ago. Now on 52k and coming up to minor service.
Apologies if this has been raised before but, with search down, I didn't have time to look through.
Thanks

I suffered exactly the same problem. Using fully synthetic gear oil made it worse! The cure? Castrol Syntrax 75w/90 gear oil (From Halfords!) 100mph 4th to 5th - no problem!
