Question Leaking front driveshaft oil seal

Spotted this today as I was having a bit of a poke around under the car, (2000MY UK Turbo), looks like oily butter smeared around where the shaft goes into the box, quite a bit of it too. Is it a reasonably simple job to replace this seal at home or is it really a garage only job, requiring specialist tools? I dont have a main dealer anywhere near me, and my friendly local place took a look and said they "didnt feel qualified to take it on", are they just being over cautious?

Could also be grease from the CV as that is very black and the consistancy of butter!
If you are in the midlands of UK then call Welcome to the API website as they will do it in their sleep.
