Default Dog box? TALK TO ME

Hi knowledgeable ones. Dog box? TALK TO ME

I heard the term 'dog box' for a type of gearbox some Impreza owners seem to use...

Is it true that a dog box allows gear changes with no need for a clutch? (or very little)

What's the crack with this boys ??

If it's true I may be on for a classic STi

Road use yeah

I currently have a non-turbo auto - I have a disability so for my needs manuals are a no-no... Until now maybe?

Trying to get a jap spec wrx auto saloon aint easy, cos I'd have to have blue, no other colour interests me.

Plus if I WAS gonna change I'd like an STi

I wouldn't go for a dog box, they are a pain on normal roads, they are suited to competition cars and thats about it. I'm sure you it would be easier to get an sti converted to auto and would suit your needs better, you could even get a WRX type R converted.

A dog box usually has no synchromesh and you need to have a strong arm to select gears and I dont think they last long if you do clutchless shifting Plus you'll need to use the clutch to pull off from first anyway..
