Default black smoke wrx

Hya,

When I first got the wrx import a week ago it didnt smoke now it has black/grey smoke coming out, I did put a little bit of 97 ron petrol in then relised and put in v-power straight away, it needs new exhaust manifold gaskets could this be the problem?

As well as the smoke its not idleing propaly at all and when I rev it it stuggles at 2k for a while.

I was told to reset the ecu due to putting the wrong octane in, it mucks with the ecu I was told what do you guys think

Thanks mark

It's definately not because of the 97 ron, something else is the cause.

hya,

cheers for the advice, it aint the turbo seals I have had turbos before and blue smoke is turbo or valve seals, blake smoke is unburnt fuel as far as I know anyway.

Do you think its worth resetting the ecu?

thanks mark

Hya,

Has anybody else got any ideas, I thought it could be down to the leaky exhaust manifold gaskets as the lamba sensor wont get a true reading.

What do you guys think.

thanks mark

Have you made sure all the intercooler pipes are fine and no little leaks? Does she struggle through the rev range or just at 2k? Check the MAF by plugging it out when shes running. The Lamda is a strange thing.Think it works through signals rather than an actual sensor, like an oil temp gauge would.Worth checking out though.

To be honest dude,i've never got a proper dice with anyone in her yet and i have her over a year now
Just a little more than standard at the moment.Waiting to get a Power FC in Oct with a few more goodies in place before that happens. Not going more than 330 > 340bhp cause my engine will start to bubble!!!
