Getting the Prodrive Performance Pack fitted to my scoob in a month or so.

What sort of exhaust noise can I look forward to?

I understand it is more subtle than the Scoobysport unit.

Is it like the noise a P1 makes ?- which I rather like.

Grateful for any info.

Thanks

Ed

Cool

Ed,

It depends which P1 exhaust you have heard and on which car?? ...Quite a few have Scoobysport exhausts, a load have the Prodrive P1 exhaust and some obviously still have the standard fit STi exhaust...so it sort of depends which car you have heard.

When I had my MY98 PPP'd it sounded awesome...if anything it was a little more "throaty" that the P1 exhaust...sounded awesome....not quite as nice (IMHO) as the Scoobysport system tho....

I hope you enjoy it when it comes...you WILL notice the difference...

All the best

Rum

I've always thought that the P1 exhausts I've heard on track sounded like an F15 on afterburners!!

Not so much a rumble as a whooosh!!!

The PPP exhaust note is far more grumbly.

NICE

It is more subtle than the SS box. Rumbles at lower speed/revs, then almost crackles like an afterburner at higher revs. *very* nice

Enjoy it you will, mmmm

On a my00; nice and burbly at low revs - but with high revs & on-boost it sounds like extreme violence. All rather nice really

The sound will change as the new backbox carbons up too.

I have only heard one P1 start-up/running. I can't say I was that impressed. I am guessing it wasn't modified at all, but it was nothing like the lurvely sound I get from my UK MY99 with full ScoobySport system

Thumbs up

Prodrive Rear box sounds quiet on tickover when compared to the heady thrum of the SS item.

It's not all bad news though as when the turbo is spooling up it can be heard through the backbox and it does sound pretty awesome. This single characteristic almost makes it as good as the SS item in my opinion.

Of course, the SS item liberates more power.

Nice subtle rumble at low revs, then a louder roar as the revs build. What I noticed more than the noise is the pereformance: Whole engine feels "free-er" somehow, and you keep thinking you're still in fourth accelleration wise when you're already in 5th..

Mine seems to work in three modes:

Taking it it easy/cruise mode: Bit louder that standard, but not a PITA

Enjoying the torque mode: much throatier than standard, v nice

Full bore mode: Complete change from standard, turns into a manic bark sort of noise, people stare that sort of a thing...

Having said that my neighbour immediately said to me "you've had the exhaust changed then" without seeing it, fortunately he's a car nut so didn't mind!

It's not as loud as as an SS backbox that's for sure, but I like it, and while you get nice noises it's not a pain on motorways etc.

BTW I love my PPP, it's not the power, but feel the torque...I hope you like yours too, it's a lot of money...

Cheers

Simon
