Default Help needed

Could someone with wisdom please help me with this hopefully easy question;
Will a crankshaft from a classic fit my 01 bugeye (wrx)?

If it's from a phase2 block then yes, the phase1's use a different thrust bearing location.

How can you tell the difference between a phase 1 and 2 - is it to do with the year of car it came from ? Where would the thrust bearing be on a phase 1 and phase 2 ?

Correct me if im wrong anyone but I think phase 1 was up to 98 (versions 1-4) & phase 2 was 98-00 (Versions 5+6).
1 has the thrust bearing in the middle & the other is at the back but cant remember which is which.
