Hlp Pls - Bore Wash/Piston Compression Problem!!
Hi All, Just had my 99 Impreza Turbo back from Subaru - had it in for analysis as it's been running lumpy when sat in traffic and smoking slightly from exhaust and burning oil. The tech suggests that needs engine stripping to establish exact problem - but suggests possible Bore Wash on cylinder 2 and would need a full re-build for 2.5 - 3 k ouch and more than the cars worth!
Does anyone have any suggestions - can i get the compression tested on No2 and just have this replaced - is there a recommended engine specialist for this job and what's a realistic price? How much for a decent second hand engone fitted roughly.
Help me please i'm having a nightmare day and it's a friday!

I would have hoped Subaru would have done the compression test as part of the analysis and supplied you with the results saving you this bother.
