As it says my car seems to be running ok,the boost gauge still reads 1.4 bar peak and there is a noise from the turbo area like a small whine when it gets over 3000 rpm but there is no kick like it used to and certainly isn't as fast as it used to be,can the boost gauge be working ok if there is a leak,engine is standard no dump valves etc

 

maybe high knock activity which caused the ECU to pull timing
Try resetting the ECU and use high octane fuel.

 

Battery was disconnected wasnt being driven as i broke my arm,would that reset the ecu?

 

yep, that will do the trick
how long since you reset the ecu.
It needs some time to learn again

 

erm i put the battery back in on wednesday and took it round the block to warm it up,no boost tho as it was sitting for a few weeks.So what do i need to do now to it to get it to "learn"

 

just drive the car for several miles
