Can a viscous type centre diff easily be put on a gearbox that used to have a DCCD?
I have a MY95 STI RA box with the DCCD sitting in my garage alongside a broken UK 752 gearbox with the usual viscous centre with 1.1:1 drop gears.
Basically I want to put the UK transfer box onto the STI box. Then I want to rebuild the broken UK box with a PPG gearset and add the DCCD to it. Both have the hatch in the transfer case to make splitting them a bit easier.
How hard is this to do? (swapping the centre diffs over - not the rebuild!) Can anyone give me a step by step guide for doing this?
How many hours labour would a specialist charge would you think (both gearboxes are out of the car) ?
Cheers

Nope - you need to swap the diff plus transfer case over together. UK has 1.1:1 transfer gears whereas the RA dccd will have 1:1 which will booger up your front to rear diff balance otherwise.
I've just swapped my P1 viscous diff and 1:1 transfer gears (in P1 case) over for a dccd and another 1:1 transfer case.
Zen did it for me -highly recommended - the dccd will need it's own loom/wiring etc as well if you want it to work

Cheers FB I'm aware of the different drop gears, both gearboxes have a 3.9 front diff.
The plan is the one I'm keeping will be a PPG'd rebuilt UK with the DCCD, that will drop staight into my car. The STI box with UK drop gears will be up for sale, it'll drop straight into any UK classic (or bug WRX) so will appeal to any Uk owners that want STI RA gearing

The idea is that I want to swap the centre diffs and drop gears over at the same time, I'm not sure if that is possible hence the initial post. Sorry about the confusion!
In a word "Yes"
The TY752 box with DCCD can be changed to a viscuous from a TY752. It will not take a viscuous from a TY754.
Obviously, you have to maintain the correct drop gear or be prepared to change the rear diff.
