I'm picking up a complete engine to drop into my '96 wrx from Grade A Subaru tomorrow.

How strong are these units compared to a wrx engine etc ?

What sort of boost levels can they run safely ? Can they handle more than a wrx engine ?

 

with the right tuning im sure both would be as safe as each other !! but the sti engine will be a little bit better

 

Well mine is mapped to run 1.4 bar on the highest boost setting but it turns out I have a cracked piston ring land. I think the previous owner did something to damage the engine before I bought the car

I'm hoping the STI-RA engine will cope with 1.4 bar boost
