What turbo for 500bhp?

Need some ideas for a smaller turbo for hillclimbing. Currently run a Garrett GT35 on a 2.2l stroker engine. Run up to 30 psi and 8000rpm, but has too much lag in the hills, great for drag racing. Does not start boosting till 4000 and hits full boost (and wheelspin) at 5000rpm. Want to lower by 1000 rpm if possible.
Have been considering a GT30 but want some ideas on other potential choices as bought the GT35 in 2001 and have not paid attention to newer developments/turbos. Need high 400, low 500 bhp to be competitive, rather than 600 with lag.
Was shown a suitable Greddy today but non ball bearing. Was told that it was better than a ballbearing turbo as they last longer. I think a load of bollocks as GT35 running strong with 25000miles hard use.
Must be external wastegate.

i run a hybrid gt30r on my car with a 82ar and on my 2 lrt i see full boost at 4000rpm, since you are already running rotated i would stay that way !! but if i was to start out again i would run one of the newer lateral MD turbos the baby is the MD321t which makes around 450ish but there is bigger ones out now/ very soon which make over 500bhp and full boost as early as the MD321t

my turbo was purchased from lateral performance, they also do the new MD range which is really good
my turbo is rated to 550bhp,im going 2.5ltr in the next week or so, i can tell you what boost in comes in with that engine as it will be getting closer to your spec

If anyone else has a 2.2l, 2.3 or even 2.5l in the 480 to 550 hp range with a rotated, external wastegate turbo, would welcome your comments, especially if using anything other than the GT30.
As stated already have a GT35 with .82 and .63 housing but it really does have too much lag in the mountains and is scary when 30psi of boost suddenly hits out of a corner, wheelspins and snaps sideways. Not much fun when there is a couple of hundred metre drop on the side. Need a more progressive power hit lower in the range.
As has been mentioned many times before a 600hp car with a big turbo is not the quickest way to travel on normal roads. More suited for race track.

GT30 in one form or other.
If you want 450hp on pump fuel, 500 on race fuel, then a GT3071, if you want more like 480 on pump, 530ish on race fuel, then a GT3075 will be your ticket.
Both will make full boost around 400rpm sooner than the GT35, with the 3071 having the edge in spoolup.
