I've just noticed a speed related whining noise on my bugeye WRX. It gets louder and higher pitched as you go faster.

At speed, if you put your foot on the clutch and let the revs drop, the noise remains.

I can't tell which area of the car it is coming from.

It's not really loud and probably can't be heard if the radio is on, but I'm taking the family to France for a few days in two weeks time and don't want to get stranded.

Any ideas what it could be?
