Default wrx and uk turbo exhausts the same? help needed!

Ok i fitted a full decat zorst to my 95 waggon a few weeks ago. One problem, the join between the down pipe and the centre section keeps blowing. we snapped the original spring loaded bolts so we used the same springs on new bolts. It was blowing slightly so we gunged it up with exhaust gum. All seemed fine but a couple days later the blowing started again, and thats been the story. Gunge it up, lovely, 3 days later it blows.

I had a look at my mates 98 uk turbo with the exact same exhaust system (h&s system from scoobyworld), and he has a sort of metal spacer, not the usual exhaust gasket kind of thing, between the downpipe and center section.

Any ideas why his is diferent and should my early wrx have this spacer/gasket too?

Thanks

The centre joint should have a metalic doughnot not a normal flat gasket, you MUST use the original bolts as they have a fixed length compression stopper so the springs are compressed to the right level.

Simon, thanks for that. So I NEED the correct bolts (which are snapped) and the doughnut gasket, which my original system never had and the new system didnt come with. So, where can I get these spring loaded bolts and gasket?

Thanks again

You should be able to get the bolts and the doughnut gasket from a decent exhaust supplier, had mine done at local garage for £10.00. I may still have my original 2 bolts, if sowill post out to you .
