Default idle control solenoid faulty?

i have the check engine light coming on quite frequently ,but then disappears when i put the clutch down and let the revs go back to idle.

i diagnosed it to be the idle control valve solenoid.

in anyones experience do you think its just a simple replacement of the solenoid or is it possible there could be another problem further a field thats causing this solenoid to be inoperational?

thanks for looking guys
