Question n00b Differential inquiry.

Is the Differential from the 2007 WrX Interchangeable with the 2.5 Differential without swapping axles?, I have an 07 2.5 and Would like the limited slip option from the wrx and would like to just buy a new differential.

What car exactly do you currently have? Your profile details a Type 25 which is a Litchfield car.. not just a standard 2.5Litre.

Also, are you looking at transferring the Diff from a 2.5STi to a 2.5WRX? Your questions doesnt seem to make sense as it is...

If you are looking at transferring the 2.5STi Diff to a 2.5WRX then you will also need to change the front and rear diffs i believe as the ratios are different. Also you will need a DCCD controller otherwise the diff will just operate in 'Open' mode.

I don't know why my profile says type 25.. i don't recall touching that, Yes I have a 07 2.5 non-turbo and I would like the differential from the WRX non-sti for its limited slip purposes. Wasn't sure if the ratios were the same. or at least where i might find out, guys at Subaru dealership were useless.

If it is the non-Turbo i think you will find that the gearbox and differentials run different ratios which would mean it wouldnt be a straight centre diff swap out.

You would be able to perform the transplant, but it would also require a transplant of the Gearbox, Front Diff, Rear Diff and Centre Diff to work correctly. (Probably meaning it would be cheaper to just buy a WRX and pay the extra in insurance/tax etc..)
