03 sti 6 speed crunch 4th to 5th
as above was just wandering if any of u guys have suffered the above when raging it through the gears as i have experienced this a few times now and just wandered if it was a common problem on the 6 speed and what was the cause or its just me rushing up the gears and need to learn how to change gear properly lol the cars done 31k and had the oil changed at subaru at 30k

Dont know about the 6 spds but on me uk classic mine started off like that and gradually got worse untill you couldnt get it in 5th above about 1500
rpm as soon as you let clutch up and revs rose you just got a lovely crunching like ya hadnt bothered with the clutch turned out to be syncro/selector fork/gear hub-werent impressed at 33,000miles meself

Mine, sti8 UK 6 speed, does the same...also sometimes 2nd-3rd.
Part of my problem is the amount of torque twisting the box (uprated grp n mounts will sort this) but the main thing is the syncros...UK ones have alloy, jap specs have steel which are supposed to wear much better.
I'm going to try different oil next year though as could also be the thin fully synth in box thats not helping the syncros.
If you get it fixed, can you let me know the costs?
