Thinking about peeling off the old red paint applied to the intake manifold, as it's flaking off like most do. If so, I intend to paint it, not spray, as I don't wish to remove the manifold. Will probably use red heat withstanding paint (usual stuff from Halfords).

Has anybody done this before with good results? Do any particular brands make a difference to the longevity and overall finish?

Never done it, but imagine it will be a waste in the end as it will be near impossible to de-grease the surfaces to get the fresh paint to stick for a reasonable period.

Preparation will be everything.

Hoever I've never removed an inlet manifold before hand. This is why I was planning to use brush on manifold paint rather than spraying it as intend to the job while it's still on the car. I guess it's out of the question?

 

You will NEVER got around the whole thing while its on the car.

 

Will look poo.... pay someone to do it....
