I've finally got round to upgrading the cr@ppy standard headlights on my scooby (MY97), thanks to powerbulbs.com. Can anyone give me any advice on how to fit these new bulbs as the instructions in the manual are pretty basic (preferably with pictures!!!) I managed to get the the electrical connectors off the back of the H4 fittings no problem but couldn't remove the rubber seals - what am I doing wrong?

I did mine about a month ago. Can't remember having any problems with the rubber seals. Just pinched the top of the seal and pulled up and out. It stretched a bit but then came away. If no joy let me know and I'll do mine again so can give you better advice.

with the bulbs the chrome "disc at the base of the glass is usually a funny shape and will only locate in one way.
you can do it by trial and error by Inserting the bulb and turn slowly and carefully whilst pushing it in you will find one position where it fits snugly,(the way in which those springy retainer wires fit can be used as a clue to which way up the bulb goes)

Alex, mines a UK00 but I suspect yours is the same. My car has a square-section plastic pipe (part of the induction) just above the driver's side headlight. It's much easier if you remove this - just one 10mm bolt.

1) Pinch the sides of the rubber cap on the connector, and release the clips which secure it to the bulb. Pull off. It's not a simple push-on and if you don't release those retaining pins hidden under the rubber you'll be tugging away for ever. You should be able to feel them. (For the benefit of others Alex, as you said you've sorted that bit.)

2) Feel underneath the big rubber weather-seal and you'll find an indent which locates it correctly on the bulb holder. Get your finger under this and peel the whole thing back on itself, turning it inside-out. Remove.

3) Unclip the bulb which is secured in the holder by two spring-clips. Remove bulb by holding it by the connectors.

4) Fit new bulb. Do not touch the glass. Reverse the above procedure.

5) Enjoy being able to see where you're going at night

Those instructions are spot on, just changed my standard bulbs to Vision Plus in about 15 mins. Bring on the dark!

So glad u posted this.........I had been pulling at the plug for ages!! Was about to go and get a big screwdriver to get the things off!!

Took less than 5mins with these instructions!!

ah but ! does it matter when buying new bulbs, as they all seem to have little nipples on them that point in different directions ?

one of my lights dazzles everyone now.

 

If one of your lamps now dazzles people, then the bulb is almost certainly seated incorrectly in the back of the reflector.....

 

Do these instructions apply to the MY01 also since my new bulbs are on order from Powerbulbs?
