Cost of vacuuming and re-gas (the proper service) is around 50-60 quid.

The air-con came with its own service book ! If it is serviced annually by an approved dealer then they guarantee it against malfunction and stone damage for the next 12 months over a total of 5 years. The system was fitted by the dealer as an optional extra and the car is now 1 year old so first service is due. It is a company called Coolair that offers the guarantee and they are partners (in crime??) with Subaru UK. I suppose it is a form of insurance as air-con can be expensive to fix if buggered. Apart from being an extra bit of paperwork to show off if I ever sell the car I'm not sure if its worth doing this? Main thing to find out is whether the system is covered by the standard Subaru 3 yr warranty on the car anyway?
