How many cats ??

Hi guys

I wanted to know how many cats are there on a Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo?

I know theres one in the mid section is there one in the down pipe ?

& whats the best way to take out the cat ?

UK classic has 2 cats, one in downpipe one in mid section. You can apparently pass the MOT using just one of those, although I think the one in the downpipe is meant to be the better one.

Removal of those cats means new pipes, a decat downpipe and decat centre. If you are wanting to use the standard backbox then make sure you stick to standard bore sizes, and also standard connections.

For a non tuned UK car it is best to stick to standard bore anyway (2 1/4"), that way you retain your mid range which is where your engine performs best.

does it matter if it's pre 96 or not because i thought in my94 it had one in the downpipe and the one in the middle was a resonator box not a cat,not sure though....
