Default Refitted standard airbox, couple of issues...

Right, I've refitted my old air filter tonight, the induction kit was nice but the design of the cone isn't ideal for the air feed, so thought I'd chuck the standard one back on for now. BUT....came across a bit of an issue.

There are four hoses connected to the resonator box - at least I think thats what its called? - a large one that comes in from the filter and MAF sensor and straight out the other side, one medium sized hose that goes towards the front of the manifold, and one small hose that heads back towards the wing, to what looks like some sort of sensor just above the air filter.

Now, as the picture shows below, the connector on the resonator box is broken, and the small hose has nothing to clip on to in effect.

I tried to adapt the central part of the old induction kit, but I didn't have a long enough section of hosing to connect the filter to the manifold, so instead, after taking advice from several people, I have just blocked the tube up for the time being. Obviously I won't be running it this way permanently, only until the weekend when I can buy either a replacement resonator or a decent bit of intercooler hose to connect everything properly. Been out for a steady drive in the car for about 45 minutes tonight and all seemed absolutely fine.

But I just wondered if anybody knew what this sensor is, as it has got me stumped? The car is a 1996 STi v2 BTW

Anyway its not all doom and gloom, found out that my standard filter box actually has a rather nice Apexi Power Intake filter with a little bit of life left in it! :B):

Hope my amazingly technical terminology isn't too baffling

simply use a piece of copper brake pipe to connect the hose (you will need to drill the airbox aperture slightly) and then araldite/glue in place............

its the bleed from the boost solenoid and the car won't boost fully with this blocked
