Angry Help - engine problem after overtaking!

Hi,

Just managed to limp my car home after an eventful drive. I accelerated hard in 3rd to 80 to overtake and as I let off the throttle to change up it felt like the car hit a brick wall.

Although it drove home ok off boost, I can't get it to rev over 3-3.5k as it hesitates badly and shakes the car violently. It also hunts more than normal at tick over, sounding like it's going to die at any second.

I revv'd it on the drive when I got home and there didn't seem to be the same problem off-load.

Can't see any pipes missing after a quick check and the ECL isn't on.

The car is a MY00, PPP, with 116k on the clock. Had new plugs, leads, lambda, and MAF in the last year.

Any ideas?

TIA

Ian

Turbo, depending upon type, should kick in between 2.5-3.5rpm. If your getting home OK off boost, might be worth having a look at it?

Sounds very similar to a boost leak to me. Check the intercooler hoses very carefully

Any engine problem in a MY99 / MY00 is a MAF...

The "other" problem is the engine pouring out the exhaust when you don't realise the MAF went ages ago.
